Tour De Moreland

You are invited to Cyclovia Sydney Road – Tour de Moreland, a free community event, on Sunday 13 April 2008 from 8 am to 2 pm.
The Cyclovia will provide a cycle friendly environment and will allow people of all ages to stroll the footpaths and cycle along Sydney Road bringing life to the street.
Sydney Road will be closed to motorised vehicles between Brunswick Road and Bell Street from 7 am to 2 pm on Sunday 13 April 2008.
Signalised intersections between Brunswick Street and Bell Street will remain open to allow cross traffic but vehicles will not be able to drive along Sydney Road.
Trams will operate as usual. It is requested that vehicles not be parked overnight on Saturday 12 April along Sydney Rd between Brunswick Rd and Bell St.
Businesses in Sydney Road are still accessible via car. Use streets shown on the map (over) to access public car parks behind Sydney Rd, and walk through.
Due to tram works at Bakers Road, Sydney Road will also be closed between Gaffney Street and Boundary Road from 6 am Saturday to 4 am Monday.
Moreland City Council and Yarra Trams have coordinated these works with Cyclovia in order to confine traffic disruption to the one weekend.
For travel to/from the city, please use the designated detours along Melville Rd or Nicholson St / Lygon St.

GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPANTS
During Cyclovia: Tour de Moreland, please remember:
• Sydney Road operates at all times as a road and all road rules should be obeyed. In particular,
you must observe all traffic lights, signals and traffic signs as usual.
• Cyclists should avoid crossing or riding close to tram tracks. If you must cross tram tracks, consider dismounting.
• Trams and tram stops operate as usual during the Cyclovia. Give way to trams and tram passengers at all times.
• Pedestrians must remain on the footpath at all times.
• Cyclists – do not stop on the road to chat to friends. Move to the footway to avoid forcing other cyclists
to go around you on tram tracks.
